MY STORY
How did I end up breeding Ragdolls?
I've loved cats for as long as I can remember. Throughout my life, I've shared my home with many cats, most of them rescue cats or "free" cats that found their way into my heart.
One of the most special was a sweet calico named Violet. She was especially meaningful to me because she was a housewarming gift from my daughter Rachael and my granddaughter Arwen-and out popped this little kitten who instantly became part of my life. Violet was an indoor-outdoor cat in her younger years, but as she grew older, she preferred the comfort of home. She adored people, but made it very clear she did not want to share her space with another cat. After a few unsuccessful attempts to bring home a kitten, I decided to simply enjoy the years I had with her. She lived a long and peaceful life.
When Violet passed away, I thought it might be nice to get two kittens together so they could grow up with a companion. Around that time, I met a woman at church who bred Ragdolls and Scottish Folds. At the time, I knew very little about cat breeds and assumed a cat was just a cat. After meeting her kittens, my curiosity was sparked. I went home and began researching Ragdolls-their history, temperament, and what made them so beloved.
The more I learned, the more fascinated I became. Their gentle personalities, affectionate nature, and striking beauty were unlike anything I had experienced before.
I soon discovered that finding a well-bred Ragdoll often meant joining a wait list, which only confirmed how special these cats truly are. What surprised me most was their temperament. Ragdolls are known for their friendly, easygoing nature and strong desire to be with their people. They are social, affectionate cats that enjoy being part of daily life and are often described as having dog-like qualities because of their companionship and the way they follow their families from room to room.
Today, my home is filled with the warm, loving presence of Ragdolls. They are affectionate without being demanding, social without being overwhelming, and bring a sense of comfort and companionship that is hard to describe until you've experienced it for yourself.
My passion for this remarkable breed is what inspired me to start AristoCat Ragdolls.
My goal is to raise healthy, beautiful, well-socialized Ragdolls and share the joy of these incredible cats with other families.
